RC Burwood General Meeting 16th February 2026
President John opened the meeting at 6.35 with the Rotary Affirmation

Secretary PP Peter:
Several requests received for Speakers to come to the Club including Legal Wills and Estate Matters, Local Community Radio Broadcaster. All passed onto PDG Paul. Briefly explained Blain and Pickett Scholarships to visitors for possible future applications.

Rob Whitney introduced NYSF attendees Anastasia Macan, Jason Nguyen
They attended National Youth Science Forum in Canberra with plenty of STEM orientated projects including Snowy Mountains, Coding, Questicon, ANU Biology Lab, Chemical research, Zoom to Particle Accelerator in Switzerland, Robotics Lab. They thanked the Club for sponsoring them and it has helped them decide what they will do at University.
Lachlan attended the Science Experience included James Webb Telescope, Science Expo, Career Speed Dating event interacting with many different students at different stages of their careers. Peer reviewing scientific articles, Biology including DNA sampling, digital finger printing, Solar panels. He thanked the Club for sending him to such an interesting weekend.
The Students were thanked by pp Hugo.

Marilie Bomediano Public Image pp Walter Bock interviewed on radio and now looking for someone else to interview on Sandikan Community Radio
Pres John introduced DG Renga.
Renga thanked the Club for the invitation having come to Burwood many times. Enjoying his time as DG meeting many Rotarians in the District.
Five main objectives.
Membership target for District is 1200 from 1047: Chartered a new Club. Encouraged us to have a companion Club. Expects us to induct three new Members
Wants to raise $250K for the Rotary Foundation: Global Grants. Thanked our Club for major donations last year.
Rotary Got Talent: June event investigating talent in the District
Youth Business Enclave in May.
Rotary Public Image: Social media campaigns, share projects. .
Several Global Grant Projects including
-Diabetic centre in India
-Artificial Limbs and Legs for 300 people only $274.00 each
-Reusable menstrual cups last 10 years 15K cups
-Toilets for girls in schools
-Philippines Refreshment of ER at local hospital
Bharathie from Granville Club Now Community leader of AKUNA ( our local clubs) Is organising a Social evening with these clubs. Raising funds by running every day Running 5.6 kms every day with Renga. Running in 15 Suburbs of the AKUNA group to meet local members and than go to their meetings. In 200 days she has raised $20K. and would appreciate support from out club and she passes to the Rotary Foundation in the Clubs name. Can check her progress on the App “Starver”
She encouraged attendance at the District Conference and will send updated information to the Club. Presented a Video available on You Tube.
Renga and Bharathie answered questions and was thanked by pp John Mansour.
General Business: Bunnings BBQ 9th May Mothers Day
Pres John thanked Renga and Bharathie for coming this evening,. Thanked Students for their presentations. Reminded Board meeting in two weeks.
Raffle raised $45 and won by pdg Paul. Meeting closed at 8.15

Eurella Fundraiser
Eurella is running a fundraiser with " Comedy for a Cause " on Friday March 20th at Burwood RSL 7.00 for 7.30 .
Days for Girls is holding their major fundraiser for the year on Sunday, 31 May - a Gala Lunch. Last year's event was fabulous, and this year's is going to be even better than last year's. We have a celebrity MC - Josh Horner, ex Dancing with the Stars judge, and the speaker is Jessica Rowe, journalist, TV presenter. We have music and dancing - so much fun!
