I hope you all enjoyed the Easter weekend and were able to spend fun times with family and friends. The weather was amazing, we could not have had better!
This weekend we commemorate ANZAC day. This year we honour the 110 year anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps troops at Gallipo
li. Anzac Day is a time to reflect on the contribution made by past and present service personnel, who have displayed great courage, discipline and self-sacrifice in choosing a life of service to their country and community. Lest We Forget.
Last Meeting
We had two fantastic speakers at our last meeting, Councillor Pascale Esber and Miriam Wassef from Burwood Council. Both ladies are very passionate about building inclusive, vibrant communities in Burwood. They gave us a snapshot of Burwood today and shared future plans for maintaining Burwood’s reputation as a cultural playground. Plans include, celebrating our diversity through special events, public art, night time dining and entertainment.
Vocational Excellence Awards
Our Vocational Excellence Awards will be held on
Monday 19th May at the Croydon Park Club. You will have received a formal invitation with a QR code for registering and payment. This is a major annual project for our club and we need your support! If you have not already done so, please think about the people in your workplace or maybe someone you come in contact with regularly to nominate for the Vocational Excellence Awards. Speak to their supervisor and provide them with a nomination form. Nominations to be emailed to:

We also need raffle prizes for the evening. Please bring any donations on Monday 28th April or Monday 12th May and give them to John Mansour. If it is more convenient, let me know and I will pick them up. You may also like to approach local businesses and ask for donations of products or services?

Adopt a Tree
The Adopt a Tree Project began in 2022 with the aim of promoting tree planting to protect our environment:
- When a tree is adopted, the donation enables trees to be planted in areas throughout NSW and the ACT that require regeneration, including
fire and flood ravaged zones
- Once you have adopted a tree you will receive a numbered tree adoption certificate via email
- When trees are propagated you will be invited to take part in tree planting days
- Trees provide habitat for local fauna
- Trees help protect with erosion and flood control
- Trees produce clean air, reducing pollution and provide carbon offset
- Trees provide peace & tranquillity and help our mental health
- Tree planting days bring people together

Rotarians for Bees
Rotarians for Bees is a group of Rotarians from a variety of Rotary Clubs who are very worried about the dangerous decline in bee (and other pollinator) populations worldwide and are taking action to help reverse this trend.
Without bees and other pollinators much of the world’s food supply would end so it’s literally a matter of life and death that these essential tiny links in our global food chain are supported and with Rotary’s global reach we can do something to help!

rians for Bees mission is to:-
- build awareness of the need to protect & support bees amongst our 1.4 million members worldwide
- encourage action to support pollinators and their role in agriculture & horticulture around the world, thus ensuring food security.
Rotary Pacific Zone Conference
Coolangatta is the venue for the 2025 Rotary Pacific Zone Conference, taking place from 30 October to 2 November 2025. We are encouraging all Rotarians and Rotaractors to come together. All are welcome. You will be inspired and motivated as we connect and share ideas to grow Rotary and activate the strategic priorities of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. Our 2025 event will be held at the Twin Towns Conference Centre. There are plenty of things you can do in this famous part of Australia and its hinterland before or after the conference.
