We had our very first Bunnings BBQ on Saturday and it was extremely busy but very successful! Congratulations to Keith and Alf for all your organising skills! And many many thanks to all the Burwood Rotarians, family and friends who helped! It was a very long day for some and hopefully if we get the opportunity again, we will have more members involved and we can roster shorter shifts. It is only through fundraisers like this that we get to support our community and engage in our projects like we do!
We have agreed to two more BBQs for Burwood Council. One to acknowledge Domestic Violence, to be held on Tuesday 3rd December 12 to 2 pm. The other to celebrate Australia Day, to be held on Friday 24th January commencing at 9 am. Please put these dates in your diary to help if you can?
PRISCA planning is going well! Anna Marie has asked members to think about raffle prizes and approaching businesses for sponsorships. We will discuss this more on Monday night. The Board has agreed that any profits on the night will go to ROMAC, Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children. Their mission is to “To facilitate medical aid for children in Oceania in the form of life saving and/or dignity restoring surgery, not accessible to them in their home countries.” All members are asked to attend PRISCA and assist on the night.
As the 7th October is a meeting night that falls on a public holiday, we will have a social get together instead of a meeting. Marilie will organise a casual event and it will be a great opportunity to socialise for any member who can attend. More information to follow.
If you have not already done so, please pay your biannual membership fees. We will get a report of this on Monday night. Fees were due 1st July so any unpaid are extremely overdue!!

At our next meeting on Monday 9th September, we will have Carol Coorey as our guest speaker. Carol is a Service Manager at a Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre. With over 36 years of experience in the community service sector, primarily focused on domestic violence and homelessness, Carol currently oversees a crisis accommodation refuge that provides crucial support for 15 families. Please come along and welcome Carol to Burwood Rotary.
